Overflows/Prefilters are the best means for getting water from an aquarium to a wet/dry filter without expensive modifications to the tank. They quietly skim the surface and provide turbulence. Most aquariums are not drilled or plumbed to accommodate personal preferences of filtration methods.

2 adjustable thumb screws for desired water height.
1" overflow screen helps keep drainage free and still allows debris to be flow out.

22 cuts on skimmer box allows plenty of surface agitation and run off.

1" PVC slip fitting. Receives either 1" PVC pipe or 1" corrugated spa tubing. I suggest hard plumbing with PVC and not spa tubing as it's the shortest route using less water.

3-3/8" width allows minimal distance from wall to aquarium.
